Summer is a great time to break out the camera and capture lasting memories

Summer is the perfect time to get out and take some amazing photos. With the longer days and beautiful weather, there are plenty of opportunities to capture some stunning shots. Whether you're an experienced photographer or just starting out, there are plenty of fun summer photography projects to try. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. Sunrise or sunset photography There's something magical about capturing the early morning or late evening light. Take your camera to a nearby park or hilltop and capture the changing colors of the sky as the sun rises or sets.

  2. Water photography Summer is all about water activities, so why not capture them on camera? Head to a nearby pool or lake and try capturing the different patterns and reflections of the water. You could also experiment with underwater photography by using a waterproof camera or a special underwater housing for your regular camera. Heck I have even seen people put their phone in sandwich baggies and take them underwater… how brave are you feeling??

  3. Nature and wildlife photography - Summer is the perfect time to capture the beauty of nature and wildlife. Head to a nearby park or nature reserve and try capturing the different colors and textures of flowers, trees, and insects. You could also try capturing photos of birds or other animals in their natural habitat.

  4. Street photography Summer is a great time to explore your local town or city and capture the hustle and bustle of daily life. Head to a busy street or market and capture the energy of the people and the environment. You could also experiment with black and white photography to capture the contrast and mood of the scene.

  5. Food photography Summer is a time for outdoor dining and fresh, seasonal produce. Experiment with capturing the colors, textures, and flavors of your favorite summer foods. You could also try capturing the process of cooking or grilling, or creating a fun summer-themed still life.

  6. Travel photography Summer is a popular time for travel, so why not capture your adventures on camera? Whether you're exploring a new city or heading out on a road trip, there are plenty of opportunities to capture stunning landscapes, architecture, and culture.

  7. Portrait photography Summer is a great time to capture candid moments with family and friends. Whether it's a day at the beach or a backyard barbecue, capture the laughter and fun of the moment. You could also experiment with different lighting and posing techniques to create some stunning portraits.

  8. Night photography - Summer nights are a great time to experiment with low light photography. Head out after dark and try capturing the colors and patterns of Dallas or Fort Worth lights and starry skies. You could also experiment with light painting techniques to create some fun and unique shots.
